One minute you’re working, the next you realise you’ve been sucked into the world of social media, just like that, BOOM! Recently a friend reminded me about being aware of being ‘busy’ or being ‘productive’. I’m always busy, it’s who I am, but not always productive!
I’m purposefully ‘feeding my focus’. Some days I actually have to turn my phone off 😲The distractions can be too tempting 🤣🤦♀️
I’ve noticed over the years that people think that taking meds for mental illness is all that is required to make them well. Yes it certainly takes the edge off, but I’ve noticed that my deeper peaceful ‘wellness’ has come from living in a balance that works for me.
The balance that brings the most wellness for me is my -
•morning writing- with gratitude, intentions and positivity
•daily exercise- I walk at the beach (this ticks two boxes, as the beach is soul food to me)
•nourishing my body- I am what I eat
•nurturing my relationships- massively important as connection is also soul food
•my spirituality- universal energy
•mindfulness- both meditation and activities •time with my animals (mega soul food)
•AND taking meds for bipolar.
Without all of those others, I am not mentally well, despite taking meds. Sadly some people fight for years with meds ‘not working’, but this is why. Meds are only a part of the balance you need for wellness.
It can be incredibly hard to create your balance when you’re in a dark place; Instead of looking at the entire ‘life balance wheel’, add one thing to your day that nourishes your soul and slowly build your balance from there 💛
What important things do you need for your wellness?
